General Information - (S-76D S/N 761037 AND SUBSEQUENT)

Helifab’s auxiliary fuel tank installs in the baggage compartment and provides 62 gallons of additional usable fuel. With the auxiliary tank installed, approximately 13 cu ft of baggage compartment volume remains available for use even when the tank is installed in combination with an Air Comm (formerly Keith) air conditioner system.If additional storage volume is required, Helifab’s STC’d cabin area storage net (available for purchase separately) can provide additional storage volume within the rotorcraft cabin.The aux tank installation utilizes a single point wiring disconnect and self-sealing, quick disconnect hose fittings that allows the tank to be removed or reinstalled in less than 30 minutes. This feature provides operators a short turn time when mission configuration changes dictate removal of the auxiliary fuel tank.

  • Fuel transfer to rotorcraft main tanks is controlled by an electric motor actuated shutoff valve and two level sensing valves that automatically prevent main tank overfilling during aux fuel transfer. The aux fuel shutoff valve is operated by an annunciator/switch located in the cockpit in proximity to the aux fuel quantity indicator, and all controls/indicators use NVIS compatible lighting.
  • For ease of initial installation, the only holes cut in the rotorcraft main tanks are those for the two level sensing valves installed in the main tank access covers.
  • The aux tank installation utilizes a single point wiring disconnect and self-sealing, quick disconnect hose fittings that allows the tank to be removed or reinstalled in less than 30 minutes. This feature provides operators a short turn time when mission configuration changes dictate removal of the auxiliary fuel tank.
  • All aux tank provisions may remain installed to allow for rapid re-installation of the aux fuel tank, and quick release dust caps can be used to prevent possible damage and contamination to the quick release fittings when the aux tank is not installed.
